September has been one of my favorite months this year. Mostly because it’s my birthday month. And I got to see Alison Wonderland perform for the second time. Oh, and two of my favorite humans traveled all the way to NYC to visit me. Yeah… I’d say it’s been a good month.
August was all about transitions for me, and this month has been about really getting into my own vibes and also staying mentally and emotionally healthy. I did a cleanse for about a week, I’ve acquired new healing crystals, reading is taking over my life, and I FINALLY understand New York enough to feel comfortable in my everyday life.
Guys… I have really accomplished some good shit. And if you know me, you know it’s hard for me to admit this.
My freshman roommate/oldest best friend came to visit and one night (after several drinks, obviously) she stopped me and started unloading all this encouragement upon me. I almost cried immediately because people are not like that in the north, and also she knows me well enough to understand what I need better than I do occasionally.. freshman roomies tend to know things, especially 5 years later. She told me all the good stuff, like how proud she was of me and how I should give myself more credit and be proud of myself, too. And I’m over here thinking eh, I could do better.
But I think she was right. Sometimes, we end up being our own worst critics and it turns out really negative. So adding to my attempt to be more healthy, I’m going to start trying to give myself credit for doing the small everyday things. Like getting up in the morning, or finding my way to a new place via NYC subway.
I really think it’s important to try to stay positive about the small ish.
Alexis Ren once said something along the lines of, “It’s important to be kind to ourselves. We should all talk to ourselves like we’re kids. Would you say the things you say to yourself now if you were a child?”
My immediate answer was obviously NO. But it’s something I want to make a better habit of.
healthy mind equals healthy life
