I got a fortune cookie the other day that said something like “Your persuasive ability will take you far.” Right in my other ear is my teacher of this intercession class I’m taking. It’s called Rhetoric of Social Movement… Just let that sink in for a second. She talks to us about how loud our voices are in society. It’s interesting because I think often times people don’t realize everyone they affect and influence. I have this habit of smiling at every person I walk past. I have to make myself not smile sometimes! In my head I’m like oh my god, Ashley you’re being creepy stop. But the truth of it is that we all deeply crave human interaction and connection. In my class I’ve learned how important it is to keep our communities strong and to stay connected to our friends and families. Many people today are completely alienated: getting up alone, going to work, and then coming home to be alone again. It’s down right tragic. So, with all of this, try reaching out to someone soon. Because they might affect you in just as big of a way that you’ll affect them.
P.S. Take Lisa Corrigan’s classes if you have the chance U of A kids, she’ll change your freaking life.
