Let’s talk about how hard it is to be a female these days.
I know all the guys are probably pissed at that sentence. (Yep, they read blogs, too).
Being that GIRLS just ended for forever (DEAD), I felt like this topic was super timely. Lena Dunham, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mament, and Allison Williams have been on my TV screen for the past six months urging- no- screaming at me to be whoever it is I am, and to do it full force, and that it’s OK to mess it up sometimes.
If you know about GIRLS, then you know about the controversy, the realness and the gorgeousness of it all…. and you know it’s so true to your life that you was shook, too.
In six seasons it covers every topic us 20-somethings go through. All the good, bad, naked and ugly.

The thing about being a modern female is that it is what it is at any given moment. One day your car gets a flat and you don’t know how to fix it, the next you accidentally explode some pizza rolls in your microwave (how did that even happen). I mean, it’s the future people. We also break eyeshadow into a million pieces and learn how to put it back together. So, we aren’t useless.
Basically my mini rant is that on being judged for who we are. As much as I believe in letting people be free to be themselves, I actually kind of enjoy judgment when it’s sent my way. I love when people have something to say about me or my content, because then I’m like, that made you really think didn’t it. I’m into getting people to talk about things and topics that make them uncomfortable. The most judgmental people, in my experience, are the ones who are just scared or don’t understand anyway.
For what it’s worth, I find a lot of inspiration in Lena Dunham specifically for her brute honesty and openness of emotions and experiences. There’s few women out there who tell it like it is and are adorned for it. I strive to be that. And like her, I’m not too worried about the controversy to keep my thoughts from being out there. For me, it’s important to release myself creatively.
